More Than a Pack. It’s an Entry Point.
An Access Pack is an intentional collection of everyday essentials designed to meet an immediate need while creating a bridge to greater support, stability, resources, and community.
Each pack may include:
Hygiene essentials
Water and snacks
Feminine care products
New socks
Meal or retail gift cards
Community resource information
The goal is simple: meet people where they are with something useful, dignified, and accessible—and help make the next step a little easier.
WHAT IS AN ACCESS PACK?
Access Begins With People.
Access Packs are designed to support people experiencing real, everyday needs—including:
Young people.
Mothers.
Families.
Neighbors experiencing housing instability.
Needs may look different from person to person, but one thing remains the same: People should not have to overcome unnecessary barriers before they can receive care, information, or support. Access begins by seeing the person before the problem.
WHY ACCESS?
Sometimes the “Small” Barrier Isn’t Small at All.
A meal can affect whether someone can focus. Transportation can determine whether someone makes an appointment. Identification can determine whether someone can apply for benefits, housing, employment, or services. A hygiene product can restore dignity. A resource card can connect someone to support they did not know existed.
That is why When E! Speaks is building an approach that does more than hand someone a bag.
We meet the need. We identify the barrier. Then we help create access to what comes next.
SEVEN TENTS OF ACCESS
The Access Pack Is the Entry Point. The Seven Tents Are the System.
One need is often connected to another. A neighbor seeking food support may also need healthcare. Healthcare may require identification. Accessing benefits may require documentation. Getting to an appointment may require transportation. Housing instability may affect every one of those things.
The Seven Tents of Access help us look beyond one immediate need and understand the larger system surrounding the person.
-
Everyday items that support basic needs, personal care, and dignity.
-
Connections to food, meals, nutritional support, and community resources.
-
Access to information, wellness support, healthcare resources, and services.
-
Helping people understand and connect to programs, services, and available assistance.
-
Resources that help remove documentation barriers standing between people and opportunities.
-
Support that strengthens stability, family connection, housing access, and community relationships.
-
Helping address one of the most common barriers between people and the resources they need.
There Is Room in This Work for All of Us.
Creating access takes community.
Individuals, businesses, organizations, schools, service providers, and community partners can help expand what an Access Pack can become.
Support may include donating needed items, contributing toward packs, providing gift cards, sharing community resources, connecting services, volunteering, or partnering with When E! Speaks as this initiative grows.
Because helping someone should not end with saying:
“Here is what you need today.”
We also want to be able to say:
“And here is somewhere you can go next.”
