Self-Love & Soul Food: A Full Day in Every Way

Hearts Full, Plates Full, Purpose Fulfilled.

It’s the impact for me.

There’s something truly powerful about a room full of women and girls—different ages, backgrounds, and stories—all gathered with one shared purpose: to talk about love. Real love. Self-love. Not the trendy, surface-level kind, but the deep, grounding, sometimes hard-to-hold kind. The kind you fight for, grow into, and learn to protect.

I had the absolute honor of speaking at the 3rd Annual Self-Love & Soul Food event, hosted by the Beautiful Seed Foundation for Young Women of Color—and y’all, I’m still floating.

Before I ever picked up the mic, I was just grateful to be in the space. Just a few years ago, before the pandemic turned so much upside down, I was wrestling with what self-love really looked like for me. Life had shaken a few things loose. But it also made space for clarity, boundaries, healing, and deeper purpose. And being able to pour those lessons back into these young ladies—some just 12 years old—was nothing short of divine alignment.

From girl talk and art, to hugs and soul food that hugged back, the day was pure nourishment—mind, body, and spirit. I sat alongside incredible panelists like Alexandria Ward, Cynthia Webb, Vonna Hayes, and LaKisha Sanders, and together we created a space of truth-telling, laughter, tears, and healing. There were moments so tender, so raw, and so real, it reminded me why I do what I do.

We didn’t just serve food—we served wisdom. We didn’t just talk—we testified. And by the end of it all, I wasn’t the only one walking out with a full plate and a full heart.

To the Beautiful Seed Foundation, thank you for curating such an intentional, sacred space. Thank you for seeing our girls, for planting seeds, and for reminding us all that Self-Love is the BEST Love.

And to every woman who brought her daughter, niece, mentee, or self—thank you for showing up. Keep watering your garden. Keep holding space for yourself. And keep choosing you, even on the days it’s hard.

Because God did.
And so will we.
