Brunchin' With Purpose and Sweet Divas

When I was invited to speak at with Make it Mine by Sweet Divas’ Business with Purpose brunch, I knew I wasn’t coming with a business bible. I came as someone who’s in the thick of it—building, learning, sometimes fumbling, but always growing. And I believe there’s value in that.

Now, let me be clear—I don’t consider myself a business expert. I don’t have an MBA, a TED Talk, or a secret formula that guarantees overnight success (if you do, please see me after brunch!). But what I do have is experience: the kind that’s earned one lesson, one pivot, one “what was I thinking?” moment at a time.

And here’s the thing: community is powerful. Sharing what we’ve learned, even while we’re still learning, is how we all move forward. Maybe something I’ve seen can help someone else skip a few potholes or see a little clearer. That’s why I speak up—not from a pedestal, but from the same table, coffee in hand, with purpose in my heart.

Before the Business with Purpose brunch, many of us came in juggling all the things—questions, doubts, excitement, half-formed ideas, and long to-do lists. Some of us were riding the high of recent wins; others were wondering if we were still on the right path. But we all showed up with a shared intention: to connect, to grow, and to be poured into, just as much as we pour into our own businesses.

By the end of it, something shifted. Over good food and real conversation, we laughed, learned, and felt seen. The room reminded us that we’re not doing this alone—that purpose and profit can coexist, and that building something meaningful is hard, but not impossible. We left more affirmed, more resourced, and more aligned. Sometimes, community is the strategy.
